The Troubles, with music (review -2)

Interesting new book from American academic (with an extensive background in the music business) Richard Jordan. “The Troubles, with music: Ulster punk and British independents.” Though the book is an academic study of the period it will appeal to anyone interested or anyone who was there. It is an exhaustive account with information from primary sources, new interviews, etc., covering all the main bands like Stiff Little Fingers, Rudi, Victim, the Outcasts, Protex, Ruefrex, the Androids, the Undertones and many more. So, if you ever wanted to know the background of Ulster punk and the political, social and cultural origins that gave rise to it, this book would be a good place to start. (includes a chapter on punk in the Republic and the many connections happening between Belfast and Dublin).
